Do You Need A Coach?

Observing success is enlightening. Successful people -artists, athletes, business tycoons, and many public figures- share traits we can choose to emulate on our path to greatness. They are disciplined, committed -some might say obsessed, and industrious. They are either born creatures of habits, happy to repeat the same drills hundreds or thousands of times to improve their performance, or they’ve learned the value of rehearsals and repetitions and are relentless in implementing and practicing the success habits of their given profession.

Typically, they are not doing it alone. Whether individual or part of a team, most successful people have a coach, a mentor, or a teacher;  someone who reminds them to jog at 4:00 AM or to practice their scales late into the night; someone they trust to have their interest at heart and to whom they feel accountable; someone they can turn to when the pressure is on.

What is a Real Estate Coach?

So, what is a real estate coach? A good real estate coach should be your mentor, motivator, and strategist. They can see what you can’t, in yourself and the situations that arise daily. They know real estate inside and out and understand what it takes to succeed in your market. They have been there and have done that. Insights coming from such a person are invaluable. Whether you need help with lead generation, negotiation skills, or staying organized, a coach can guide you according to your needs.

Why You Need a Coach

While you might be doing just fine on your own, have you considered how much better your business -and maybe your life- would be if you had someone in your corner? A super fan and a sounding board rolled into one. Someone who believes in you and who can answer the questions that nag you when you think about your business strategies and tactics?

So, I managed to convince you enough to interview a coach or two. But how do you go about finding the perfect coach? Here’s how:

  1. Check their track record, testimonials, and the results they’ve achieved for their clients. Thorough research will give you an idea of their credibility and expertise.
  2. Real estate is hyper-local. Look for a coach who understands your market.
  3. Your coach is more than a teacher – they partner in your success. Having a good understanding, shared values, and personality alignment is essential. 
  4. Your coach should understand your goals and be able to create a plan to achieve them. They should be as invested in your success as you are.
  5. The real estate industry is constantly evolving, so ensure your coach is committed to staying updated with the latest trends and strategies to provide you with the best guidance possible.
  6. Many coaches offer trial sessions. Take advantage of these to see if their coaching style resonates with you before committing to a long-term arrangement.
